We really have to "see" God for our self. In fact, take a look at John 14:9. In this verse Jesus says, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father." Now even in the days when he was walking among his people, we must remember that God is a spirit. Not only that, but according to Exodus 33:20, if we were actually able to see God, we would die.
God opened my understanding to this passage in John 14. He told me that I have to get out of my own eye sight for a moment, out of my fleshly sight and put on my spiritual eyes. He showed me that this scripture is a spiritual truth. It is possible to "see" God and also continue to live. Here it is, Jesus showed me that no man can see Him and live in the condition they were in before they saw him! In fact, they must die to self in the waters of baptism for the forgiveness of sins according to Acts 2:38. After this they must continue to die to self daily like the Apostle Paul, in accordance with 1 Corinthians 15:31.
Acts 2:38 is the salvation message and it is personal, because Jesus lived, died, and rose for it! This message is personal to him! We have to get off our own feelings and own personal experiences and line it up with the feelings and experience of our savior! We must humble our own selves to his word, who are we to have him humble himself and his great salvation message? It's not about us, it's about his sorrow, his struggle, and his suffering. Are we that selfish that we would require his message to fit our liking? It's all about Jesus people.
Have you ever wondered why some Christians do not mature in their walk? Is it possible that they haven't really "seen" the SON OF GOD, as THE FATHER? Is it possible that they esteem what they hear about the Son of God over what the word of God shows us? Is it possible that they do not obey the Salvation message of Acts 2:38 or they do it in their own way? (Baptizing in triune titles) Is it possible that they adopt a theological understanding of the Bible and deny the power and deny the indwelling of Jesus in us (Holy Spirit) with evidence of speaking in tongues? (2 Timothy 3:5 and Acts 2:4)
If you are allowed to see the Son of God, you must die to your own flesh or "self," because he is the Holy Father from creation. God is holy and one cannot help but be changed by his presence. Now since God is a spirit, the only way to see him is with Spiritual eyes, this is done when we obey HIS salvation message and see the Him (The Son,) AS THE FATHER. This is a personal revelation that only God can reveal to us. You can hear about the Son through other people but we have got to see the Son for our own selves and this can only happen through 2 Timothy 2:15, which says:
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
