Consciousness in this existence is composed of matter and spirit. Most are only conscious of matter, seeing only the temporal in a temporal existence. Seekers are conscious of matter and spirit, they are aware of more than most, but many seekers fall to spiritual confusion. They have some truth, yet much error which prevents them from seeing more. God's sons are fully conscious of matter, spirit, and the author of them both. They are gods, because they are all Sons of the Most High God, as stated in Psalm 82:6.
Now in order to be a Son of God, a birth must take place. This birth is a new birth and it's completely a spiritual process. In fact, God himself tells us in John 3:7 that we must be born again and that no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. (John 3:5) In fact, this birth is how we enter the New Covenant was foretold by the prophet Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 31:33. The previous verse, Jeremiah 31:32 makes this prophecy clear and that the "future" Covenant being addressed is NOT like the Old Covenant. (Which God made with the ancient Hebrews when he took them out of Egypt.)
It's interesting to note that there are actually many prophecies that refer to the coming New Covenant in the Old Covenant scriptures. What's more fascinating is the fact that in the New Testament or Covenant scriptures, the writers themselves refer to these same prophecies in their own letters! In fact the last verse we looked in Jeremiah 31:33 is rehashed in Hebrews 8:10, in fact it's the exact same verse! The author of Hebrews is referring to Jeremiah 31:33 and using this verse to explain that this New Covenant is superior to the Old one, because God found fault with the Old Covenant. (Hebrews 8:6-7)
So what is this idea of God's people receiving a new heart and a new Spirit? Well this is the entire point of the New Testament. This covenant is all about being cleansed from our sins and having God dwell inside us! Another place in the Old Testament that confirms the forgiveness of sins and becoming a New creation is Ezekiel 36:25-26. In fact these particular verses in Ezekiel talk about being cleansed with water and having a new spirit. This brings us back to the entire idea of being born again. This is why Jesus said to Nicodemus, in John 3:10, "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things?
Keep in mind that Nicodemus was a Pharisee or a Rabbi in his day. He taught scriptures to the Jewish people in synagogue, surely he would know at least something about this "born again" thing? Now under the Old Covenant, a Jewish person entered into Covenant with God when they were circumcised. They were part of God's people and of course had to live a life of obedience to God and His word. Circumcision was so important that God nearly killed Moses for not circumcising his son, fortunately for Moses, his wife circumcised there son. (Exodus 4:24-25) Of course if a Jewish male was not circumcised he was to be cut off from his people, "BECAUSE HE HAS BROKEN COVENANT." (Genesis 17:14)
It's important to note that the first covenant started after the Hebrews came up out of Egypt. This is the same God's word also confirms this in Covenant as being the New Covenant which was established on the day of Pentecost. We know that the New Covenant did not start until the day of Pentecost was the New Testament as 2 Corinthians 3:3

This birth exists in the Most High God, creating you a new, in His image. In order to be made in this image, humility is key and knowing that only God's word holds truth.
What sets God's sons apart is the fact that the author dwells within them. Are you a son of God? You better hurry up and figure it out. God's word tells us in Romans 8:19 that all of creation is waiting on the revealing of the sons of God.
God's word also tells us that God gives favor and exults those who are humble. (Proverbs 3:34) You can only be a son of God through immense brokenness, humility, and trails. Are you ready to suffer? God's sons are treated pretty bad in this existence. Hebrews 11:38-39 tells us of trails that many of God's sons had to endure and may still have to endure. In fact John 15:20 tells us that the master was treated like trash, so now how do we suppose we will be treated any different?
I hope you have your mind made up and are ready to put in your time for the ONE who put in His time for you. Glory only comes after humility, God is worth it. It's all about inheriting him. (Ezekiel 44:28) In fact, God is the only one who inherits all things and his promises are only in Him. ( The journey starts at Acts chap 2 and the arrival starts at Revelation 21.
