As I woke up today, a thought came to me, this thought was "there are stages of a famine." I didn't understand the word or thought that came to me upon waking up but as my day unfolded, these idea came together. After watching the above clip that a friend posted on Facebook. everything came together.
Now just like there are stages of death, there are stages in a famine. The final stage of a famine is an immediate need for nutrients, because the body is eating slowly eating itself and shutting down. Adversity and trauma are hitting the body and affecting it's physical well being. Now during this stage, even the smallest amount of nutrients will help but if this immediacy of nutrients is not met, physical death will ensue.
This idea directly relates to the famine of God's word. This famine is self evident in our world today, especially when we see so much hate all around us. Very few people seek after God and very few live by his word. Now this famine can only last for so long but once adversity hits, and it's effects surface. The wickedness of the world around us will eventually cause an immediate need for God. This final stage of not having substance is going to hit home when this adversity surfaces.
Now the clip above illustrates the inevitable clash between two word views that will result in serious adversity. Right now there are so many opposing world views and you can see all the dominoes are being lined up for a huge fall. The fact of the matter is that people don't need God until things go seriously wrong. In the time being, most people find their comfort in being part of a group. A group mentality usually removes individuals from seeking God for themselves and puts people into a state of spiritual famine and idolatry (Worshiping the created, rather than the creator.)
This idea of Spiritual famine is really the entire story of the entire Old Testament. There was a constant tug of war between rejection of God and his word and being in absolute need of God and his word. The story in 2 Chronicles 20:1-27 paints a perfect picture of the entire back and forth struggle of ancient Israel in one story. When times were good for ancient Israel, they always forgot about God and sought after "self." When times were bad for them, they always came back to God because they were humbled by the adversity that would surface. This adversity was inevitable because without God, their protection and defenses were removed, not because God left them, but because Israel left God.
Of course this adversity would always bring them to their knees where they would seriously seek after and require a word from God. They would be in dire need of his forgiveness and required it. Now Individuals are no different the nation of ancient Israel, the old saying "you will never find an atheist in a foxhole," is so true. I seriously believe we are all going to witness major problems ahead and many people are going to be seriously looking for God.
Keep in mind that the above video clip shows an evident clash of two opposing worldviews. This is just one clash, but I believe this particular clash will eventually get very serious. This one may be lead to the adversity that will surface the famine for God's word.
It's interesting how both sides believe in a God, yet when you get down to it, there is absolutely no love between these two world views. It's very ironic. The fact of the matter is that the only security in this life is not in a religion or a political party. Security is only in the one God who lived as a man nearly 2,000 years ago. There is only salvation or security in His name, Jesus. Jesus is the only God who will repair us when we are broken. Allah won't repair anyone because he's only concerned about people fulfilling rules. Buddha won't repair anyone because he's only concerned with people achieving "enlightenment."
A famine of God's word is here. (Amos 8:11) A clash of multiple world views is coming, and a period of lawlessness is here, which has been secretly working for quite some time. Satan telling Eve that she would not die in Genesis 3:4 was a lie. Implying to her that she could continue to live forever in a state of disobedience to God brought only death and destruction. This is man's present state, without God. Man is on a one way track to destroy himself and corrupt the land given to him buy God. Jesus is the only God who will be able to heal man of his own curse, and undo man's own self destruction. It is only possible to come to God in a broken state because we have all missed his mark of holiness. In God's perfect will, he used our own set back as a platform for our come back.
I do not want anyone to be ignorant, trails are coming and they will consume some, but those who stick close to God will be purified and will come out victorious. In fact, God's word tells us this in Amos 9:10-14. God tells us in 1 Peter 4:17, that judgment starts at the house of God but when God judges his people, he does it out of love so that they may turn back to him. In Hebrew this idea is known as "Teshuva," to return back to God. (Hebrew: תשובה , literally "return") Teshuva is really the entire theme of the Bible, in one word.
The future may look grim, but remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 21:44, Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed." I pray that God's chastisement will not crush us, but only bring us to a place where we are broken and see that we need him. Everything is being set up for Jesus. The question is, when adversity comes, will we repent and see our need for him or be crushed by this divine dilemma? I pray that everyone reading this will choose life so that they may dwell in God that God may dwell in them, and they may live. Acts 2:38
