Are we listening to the voice of God? To let you in on a little secret, his voice is not always audible. I believe that God is speaking to anyone willing to read this article. The life of this Nicholas Winton is a living testament to the goodness of God and also the very real evil that exists in our present world today. Through the story of this man's life there are many lessons we can learn.
Some of the things we can learn are selflessness, genuine love, character, endurance, and also the idea of persecution. The life of Nicolas Winton is being remembered today and God is using it to speak. The significance of this one life has lead to the preservation of hundreds, if not thousands of others. The courageous and selfless acts of this man will continue to touch people, even after his departure. The humility and love of this man, has him exiting this world in an exalted and glorified state, as his story now speaks to the nations.
This man saved over 600 Jewish children during the Holocaust. A time of some of the most evil persecution the world has ever seen. Now as I was reading this article, the idea of persecution arose and I believe the connection that I am making today is the voice of God. There is a holocaust happening in America right now, as millions of unborn lives each year are murdered. Now the highest court of the land has redefined God's definition of marriage, and it seems as if America is getting more and more wicked. Unfortunately the church is not making a loud enough response to this evil and I believe that very soon this evil will embark to the front steps of every church building in this nation. What will be our response?
Most Americans do not want to hear how bad our nation is. In fact, if you go around on a street corner, telling the average American to repent, they will probably laugh at you or think you are a fruit cake. Their is almost no connection anymore to God's word and reality. The idea of "church going" in this nation is hanging on by a thread and the word of God has been reduced to a fairy tale that simple teaches "morality."
The zeal that this great nation once had towards the word of God has been replaced with pride. In fact this pride is at an all time high and if left unchecked, will be America's destruction. As America gets more darker, the people of God will be hated even more. Yes, we will shine like never before, but the pressure that we will face will be much greater and persecution will ensue. Will this persecution be comparable to what happened almost 100 years ago, I cannot say. Now as I finished looking at the above article and organized all of my thoughts, Matthew 10:23 came to mind.
This Bible verse tells us exactly what we are to do when persecution hits. "But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come."
So, does God's word tell us that we should "bunker down" when persecution hits? NOPE, the Bible tells us that we are to flee! In fact, this is how the gospel moved so fast, as documented in the book of Acts! Did the church need money to grow? NOPE, in fact it needed fire (trails) for the purpose of purification and becoming more like Jesus.
The idea that correction always brings revival and repentance is great, but we must remember that it can also bring more rebellion and persecution. Now it's great to hope in the first outcome, but I believe this article came up today so that the church (individuals who make up the body of Jesus) can have the wisdom to know that more rebellion and persecution is also a very real and possible outcome.
Again, persecution and rebellion are the main reasons the early church and their doctrine exploded. This happened shortly after the resurrection of Jesus, during the first century. God is laying out all the cards on the table and is speaking. How will America handle the correction of God? How will the "church" of America respond if persecution becomes unavoidable? Are we really interested in listening to God or are we really just interested in business as usual? (Not making a scene and just getting along and tolerating wickedness) Can the church of America leave her comforts and conveniences if God told her to flee?
Some great questions to challenge the church and get her esteeming her God over all else. Only time will tell, but lets pray that we all make up our minds right now, so that we do not get hit off guard.
