I have been following Johnathan Cahn ever since I read his first book, The Harbinger. His second book, The Mystery Of The Shemitah, breaks down the significance of ancient Biblical observance and relates it to a God ordained principle that is still speaking today. I had a difficult time putting this book down, as it was extremely interesting and quite captivating. This book can most definitely stand on its own merit, but I would highly recommend reading The Harbinger first because much of what is explained in The Mystery of the Shemitah is built on Cahn's first book.
This book is a must read for anyone who has a zealous love for the Bible and understands the great significance every single word of scripture has. I believe that Cahn's Hebrew roots really aid to his understanding and he does a fantastic job transferring these deep thoughts to his readers.
Before I read this book I did not have a good grasp on what the Shemitah was even about. Now I see that it was a year in which God intended to bless his people. He wanted this year to be a year where his people could find rest and be blessed from the previous year's labor. It was a time where God's people could reflect and see that every blessing was from Him. It also forced God's people to trust him and rely on him, that in the worst scenario they would be taken care of. Of course, God's will of what the Shemitah year was ordained to be didn't always line up with what His people thought it should be. As explained in the book, ancient Israel had a difficult time keeping this observance.
Cahn did a great job explaining that this wasn't just an ancient observance, but a principle that relates to the timing of major events. Scripture itself testifies that God is a God of order, but when you can correlate the top five economic down turns of the U.S. economy with this principle, you just may be on to something!
The book doesn't stop with that! Cahn goes on to explain the crazy correlations of how the Shemitah year actually marked the building and completion of the twin towers and now the New World Tower. He also talks about a "great shaking" that is on the way because America has not repented and turned from her evil ways. In fact, Cahn explains how God has been sending warnings or "harbingers" the entire time, but we have been engulfed in too much darkness to listen. He is also able to show the reader how these harbingers all happen during Shemitah years!
This book convicted me to not take God for granted! This nation is in trouble. I absolutely agree that it will take a "great shaking," as Cahn states, that is set to come if our nation continues to not only ignore but defy God.
I personally feel our nation has become full of pampered and greedy people. People too spoiled to consider anyone else but themselves, let alone God. This nation has taken its success for granted and so many people have put their faith in money, the government, and "fail safe" technology. These blessings come only from God and without him, these blessings are nothing on their own. Cahn briefly eludes to a possible economic collapse on the horizon and parallels the climate of the 1929 stock market crash to the upcoming date of September 13th, 2015. I have to say, he points out some startling similarities but goes on to confirm the importance of being sober minded and right with God in any situation.
When I finished reading, I expected more, but it left me feeling as if this Mystery of the Shemitah was only part of something far bigger! I think this is what Cahn intended as we can most likely expect a few more books from him. His books are revealing, eye opening, and timely. I wholeheartedly believe that God is using him and many others to help restore Christianity to how it was in the book of Acts! The book of Revelation is all about coming out of Babylon. Babylon has a Hebrew root word to it, Babel, meaning confusion. As knowledge increases and the Spirit of God continues to be poured out on all men, the church is set to return and surpass its former glory. As confusion is falling, revelation is being unveiled.
