God has always wanted his Spirit IN His people, ever since the days of Moses. If we are In Christ, then Christ is in us. The word Christ means "anointed" this anointed Spirit is the Spirit of God Himself. It's a perfect sense of oneness where flesh/humanity meets Spirit/God) In fact, without God's Spirit in this flesh, Jesus would be a corpse without power, a bag of dead bones.
Unfortunately this dead Jesus is the view that most churches have on Jesus. This powerless Jesus is why most churches are in the predicament they are in and why Christianity as a whole has being slowing dying, especially in the west. Why you ask? Because they lack the Spirit of Christ! They see Jesus, and everything else for that matter via a worldly point of view. In fact, 2 Corinthians 5:16 tells us that this view of Christ is how everyone saw Jesus at one point, until they were grafted INTO Christ. Please see my latest blog for information on how to get into Christ, for a quick explanation see Galatians 3:27, Acts 2:38, and Acts 2:4.
This new birth allows us to see who Jesus is and the world in an entirely new way. In fact those in Christ will see Jesus not only as flesh but as the very Spirit of God himself, the Father of creation. Sin is what was separating us from God and this Spiritual and truthful view of Him. This is why we must be born anew and grafted into Jesus. Once this happens, we can live out our destiny. Now this is the idea of the physical Temple from day one. The ancient Temple erected as a resting place for God. When man was to go to Temple, he entered a rest, a Shabbat rest.
The Shabbat day was a day of rest where man could rest from his work. So here it is, in God we find our rest! God already entered His rest on the 7th day. In a way, he has been waiting for us. This number 7 is very significant and before the Messiah returns for his bride, a 7th angel of revelation blasts the 7th trumpet, making man aware of the immediate eternal rest for those who have entered in God's rest on earth! Revelation is a revealing where all foundations will be tested and only those resting in Christ will last. In fact the true rest in God, is having his Very Spirit resting in us, the true Temple.
This is why the prophet Isaiah says in Isaiah 28:11, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people, to whom he said, "This is the resting place, let the weary rest"; and, "This is the place of REST"-- but they would not listen. So here it is, when Jesus says to make disciples of all nations, this means that we are making the Temple, constructing it with the word, not stone. Because Jesus is the Temple and to worship in Spirit and in Truth, you must be IN the Temple. The Shabbat is rest in Him! How do we rest in Him? We must be baptized into him and allow Him to speak through us. Having his anointing and Spirit in us IS THE REST!
This is the rest...will you listen? Do you love? Do you speak in tongues? Do you know who Jesus is?
