STOP THIS VIDEO AT 2:55. This video was ON POINT...until it hit 2:55. At this point, all the creators of this video had to do was conclude with this video with Hebrews 12:22-24! But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly. These verses clearly tell us that the Zion is the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem.
Now there is no longer a physical Temple in the land of Israel (Promised land) In fact, if you read my last blog, you already know that the lack of a physical temple diminishes the significance of this city. Now Jerusalem was part of the land that God promised Abraham and His seed (Genesis 12:1-7) Keep in mind that once the Seed fully come, the promise was COMPLETE. (Galatians 3:19) The promised line that carried this seed and the Torah law that they were all under was made obsolete. Galatians 3:16 tells us that this SEED is JESUS! The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.
So here it is, in order for the promises of God to apply to anyone now, they must be in Jesus! (Galatians 3:29) Only in Jesus now do the promises of God apply. In other words, God who is Jesus, is the true inheritance! In fact this idea is actually prophesied in Deuteronomy 10:9. (God's priestly people were to inherit God himself!) Of course this idea lines up with 1 Peter 2:9 which tells us that: But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the promises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Keep in mind that the Biblical city of Jerusalem resided ONLY those of the tribe of Judah (Tribe of Kings) and those of the tribe of Levi. (Tribe of Priests) This should give a completely new understanding of 1 Peter 2:9, when it speaks of a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD.
Jesus is the promised Seed and all the promises are in Him! Jesus is the Land, the City, and The Temple within the city of Jerusalem. We even see Jesus, right down to the The Temple Feasts! Now in the video above, Isaiah 33:20 is mentioned. This scripture was revelation to me as in Zion (Another word for Jerusalem) were are all the Holy feast days of celebrated. Now what did each and every one of these Jewish High Holy Days symbolize? JESUS! Again what is the city? Better yet, WHO is the city?
All Jewish feast days speak of HIM! In easiest feast day to spot of course is Passover, especially because the Passover meal was Jesus last supper with his disciples! (Matthew 26:19, Mark 14:12, and Luke 22:8) In fact when celebrating this Jewish Feast, Jesus tells his disciples that He is the Passover meal and that meal should be remembered because of Him! You can read about this Bible fact in Matthew 26:26-29 and Luke 22:15-20) So are we seeing a trend here? Jesus is everything, He can be seen in all the Temple Sacrifices, He's the only way or one and only door into the Temple of God, and He is the very Spirit of God that dwells in this Temple. We must get into Him. He is our Spiritual Temple of safety and only in Him can we become one with our God, being made after his image. being made citizens of the heavenly Jerusalem!
How do we do this you ask? By entering in the New Covenant and being baptized INTO CHRIST, as stated in Galatians 3:27: for all of you who were baptized INTO Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. This is how we obtain our spiritual new birth as a child of the heavenly Jerusalem. this is how we receive our new identity, which is eternal. Of course in regards to this verse, the apostle Paul was preaching to the choir, as the church at Galatia (Modern day Turkey) was made up of believers. These believers believed and already obeyed the Gospel message, thus making them part of the church body! THINK ABOUT WHAT IS BEING SAID. We are talking about OBEYING THE GOSPEL, not simply believing it. Now is this idea scriptural? You bet, in fact 2 Thessalonians 1:8 says that we must OBEY THE GOSPEL. We are talking about fleeing to Jerusalem.
Obeying the Gospel is how we get INTO Christ. "Believing the Gospel" IS NOT obeying it. This belief becomes obedience, only when an action takes place. Of course if you really believe something, then don't you act on it? Of course you do, that is if you are hearing the correct message.
The Gospel message as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 tells us that the Gospel is the perfect life, sacrifice, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now this message which you must first hear, ALWAYS AND MUST invoke a response. "So what do we do now?" This was such a response, found immediately after the very first Gospel message was preached. This can be found in Acts Chapter 2. The response can be read in Acts 2:37.So here it is, we must now apply this Gospel message to our own lives. In fact, we cannot apply this message to anyone BUT ourselves! So how do we obey the Gospel you ask? Well read the verse immediately after Acts 2:37, Acts 2:38: "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." This is how we get INTO JESUS.
This verse is far from the only verse that shows how we are to obey this Gospel message. Romans 6:3-5 tells us that we must die with him. We must die to our self, in repentance and be buried with Him in Baptism. (Water immersion in the name of Jesus for the FORGIVENESS of our sins.) Now when we walk in this obedience, we will be raised up out of the water with a new life and a hope in for the life to come! We will be filled with God's Spirit, moved and directed with a new heart, mind, and purpose. Keep in mind that the water symbolizes death and judgment, but also life. (Think Noah and the Ark.) This is how we apply the blood of Messiah.
Now don't get this twisted, no where in scripture does it read, "accept Jesus as personal savior" Of course the only way of "accepting Him" in accordance with the Bible, is by OBEYING the Gospel. We must get INTO Christ as the Bible says, we must get INTO His Identity. Again, Jesus is the promised SEED and all of the promises that God gave, were to Abraham and Abraham's SEED. We must remember that not everyone in Abraham's blood lineage were of the promise! (Ishmael, Esau) The promise was meant only for the Seed, and only in this SEED are the promises of God accessible.
Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. We must get INTO Jesus for only in Him can we find safety. Only in Him can we find true meaning, and only in Him can we find true identity. Jesus is the builder and maker of a city without walls, he is the cornerstone of a Holy City, a New Jerusalem. (Hebrews 11:10, Zechariah 2:4, Ephesians 2:20, Isaiah 28:16, 1 Peter 2:6, Revelation 21:2)
Jerusalem is now no longer a physical city, but an identity. God is still in this city, but in a spiritual way. The Old Testament Hebrews had to be circumcised and prepare by repenting and washing in order to go INTO Jerusalem to worship God at the Temple. Circumcision was their claim to identity. In fact, when they were circumscribed, they were also given a name! Yes, Hebrews were not named until the eighth day, when they were circumcised. (JESUS TOO) Circumcision was so tied to identity that it was mandatory for converts to Judaism and still is! In fact if one was not circumcised, even if he was born into a Hebrew family, they were not considered to be Hebrew!
(Genesis 17:14)
Spiritual Hebrews of the New Covenant are no different. We too must be circumcised and wash as well, for us to come before God and worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24) Of course the only identity God will accept is His own. We must be washed in the waters of Baptism, calling upon His name, (Which is Jesus) putting on HIS IDENTITY. We now have the name of Jesus on us, this now our new birth name! When we do this we are promised a circumcision of the heart, this happens when we are filled with God's Holy Spirit!
Just like the Old Jews would get their identity and name on the eighth day when they were born, we too receive a new name and circumcision at our new birth! (Genesis 17:12, Luke 2:21) This is our new identity and now we can boldly approach God, worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth. Being that we have believed and obeyed the Gospel message and are now citizens of the Spiritual Jerusalem, God can dwell in us and we in Him. Just like Jerusalem was made Holy by God, now God can make us Holy as we continue to walk and mature in Him. If our identity is now God, let us strive to walk as He did.
Now there is no longer a physical Temple in the land of Israel (Promised land) In fact, if you read my last blog, you already know that the lack of a physical temple diminishes the significance of this city.
