Today I was shown the importance of not giving evil a provision. It's easier to mess up when you immerse yourself in evil or are around it. But when you keep evil away, it's much easier to avoid doing wrong.
I read a passage that talks about not setting bad things before your eyes. (Not necessarily always "bad" things, but things that will get you thinking in a negative way.) This passage is, Psalms 101:3 and it was written by King David. Who better to understand the importance of not giving sin or wickedness a provision. This is the same David who spent time checking out a woman while she was bathing...(AND THEN ACTING ON THE EVIL DESIRES THAT GOT HIM LOOKING AT THIS WOMAN IN THE FIRST PLACE).
After the fact and after the act, David had to suffer through the consequences of his actions. Because of this mistake, David's first born son died at childbirth and another one of his son's ripped away half of his Kingdom....After these events, David knew the importance of not giving evil a provision in his life and in Psalms 101:3 David writes, "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes."
