Revelation 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." This passage is a very simple message that clearly shows us who Jesus is.
Even thought this scripture is fundamental, there's much more here than what meets the eye. This simple passage is actually a very deep oneness message here, lets break it down. First of all this scripture is written by the Apostle John, while he was serving a life sentence for preaching the Gospel, on the Island of Patmos. Paul was given a vision from God and told to write about this vision and share the message with the 7 churches in modern day Turkey.
Now this scripture particulate scripture is coming from the mouth of Jesus, who Paul sees in his vision. Jesus is speaking here and tells us that he doesn't change and that he has always existed. So now that we have applied the proper context to this scripture may I ask, "where was Jesus yesterday?" In other words, where was he before he came to earth? Was Jesus not the same spirit who spoke to Abraham, Moses, and David?
The answer seems pretty clear, or does it? Of course, Jesus is this one Spirit! Unfortunately though, many "Christians", doctrinal speaking, do not see it this way. Rather many Christians see a smaller spirit being, sitting next to his daddy. I suppose his eternal mom was up there with him as well?
Malachi 3:6 says that God does not change. So if he doesn't change, how can he go from one to three in one. Also, even if God was a three in one deity, wouldn't Jewish people today still have this revelation of a tri-une God? After all God cannot change, can he? Last time I checked, the only thing that God cannot do is lie. Therefore God cannot change and doesn't change, but we certainly can.
We can change from believing Him at His word, to not believing Him. In fact, the Bible says that we like sheep have ALL gone astray, each one of us has gone our OWN way! (Not God's) We do this when we do not stick to what the word of God says. If we are not getting our belief from the word of God, then where are we getting our beliefs from? What sounds nice, opinion possibly? Maybe we base our believes off of tradition, credentials, and superficial ascetics like speaking ability and presentation?
I'm talking about the oneness of God and getting deep here. So where are you? Are you still on the sea shore? I challenge you to get deep with God! Are your roots deep in the foundation that is the knowledge of Jesus Christ? Or is your rooting only temporary because it's just touching the surface, ready to be uprooted or blown away at the presence of a trial. Real faith is in the word of GOD that you know personally.
